Wanted to post a random thought about the Shadow Proves the Sunshine by Switchfoot.

Crooked souls trying to stay up straight: this is quite straightforward. Man=crooked souls. We're always trying to do what morally right, right by the law, everything right and straight. But we're still crooked souls, broken and bent and will forever be that way.

Shadow proves the sunshine: Without darkness, will we know what is light? Out of the darkness, God created the heavens and the earth, light, night and day. It is because of the darkness that we know what is light, which is a contrast to darkness. People ask "Why did God allow sin?" Maybe this is one of the answers. If everything was shiny and perfect, we'd probably take it for granted and not have a choice. But when God allows sin, we can see the contrast of His holiness, glory and pureness to sin. Then we truly know the depth of His love and how filthy we are compared to Him, and realise we need to make a choice and accept Him as our Savior to help us.
